Aqua-Quench® C is an advanced polymer quenchant designed for both low- and high-hardenability steel applications including forged parts, coils of wire and bar stock, and in special steels, martensitic stainless and titanium alloys. The quenching characteristics of Aqua-Quench C can be varied between those of water and normal-speed cold quenching oil by varying the concentration of the solution. The concentration of Aqua-Quench C must be regularly controlled by either refractometer, an easy and rapid workshop method adapted to clean solutions, or kinematic viscosity, a more effective method of control. Aqua-Quench C can be used in many different types of furnace applications including continuous mesh belt, shaker hearth and rotary furnaces as well as for direct quenching into open quench tanks.
